Silvano Basso Managing Director, Aurion Corporation Pty Ltd  Silvano Basso is a founder and Managing Director of Aurion Corporation Pty Ltd, an Australian owned developer of human resource management solutions and provider of payroll services. Silvano spent 12 years as a HR practitioner in the Commonwealth Government where he became interested in how technology could elevate the role of HR in the organisation and improve the efficiency of workforce management. This interest ultimately led to the founding of Aurion in 1990.

Bill Deveney Principal, Bill Deveney & Associates  Bill has worked or been involved in the Health, Ageing and human services sectors for over 30 years amongst other things. He has been CEO of Community Health Services, Decommissioned a public hospital, Established and was CEO of Melbourne Major Events, Founded and Chaired Doutta Galla Aged Services, Amalgamated seven Community Health Services together and Chaired that new body, Served on the Board of Melbourne Health (Royal Melbourne Hospital), Chaired 1/3 of Victoria’s Mental Health Services, was one of the early owners and Business Development Manager of Silver Circle Home Support Services and as a consultant has undertaken strategic and master planning for a variety of Aged Care organisations. Bill was a Councillor at the City of Melbourne for 9 years and Lord Mayor of Melbourne in 1989-90. He has worked on numerous Boards and Committees at all levels, International, National, State wide, East Coast, and locally. He has received the Order of Australia and Federation medals. Currently Bill is Chairman of Harmony Aged Services and is working with Indigenous communities to establish Indigenous owned and managed aged services and residential care. His broad knowledge of services, information requirements and management allows him access across all levels of Government in strategically looking at services , where they have been and where they are heading.
Lisa Smith , General Manager, Acting Head of Engagement, NEHTA  Lisa Smith joined NEHTA as General Manager in 2005 to drive engagement and communications when the company was a small technical and policy team working on e-health foundation projects. Since then NEHTA has been tasked with identifying the right technology for e-health and to plan for a future Individual Electronic Health Record. In a rapidly changing and complex stakeholder environment, Lisa is advisor to the Chief Executive on program governance and cross-government relations and has played a leading role in the strategy development that has influenced Australia’s e-health agenda
Steve de Laurier National Director for Health and Life Sciences Australia New Zealand, IBM Global Business Services  Steve is the IBM Global Business Services National Director for Health and Life Sciences in Australia New Zealand. In this role, he manages a practice of healthcare professionals in providing competencies in strategic consulting, advisory services, business process improvements, change management and health information system implementation services.He is responsible for ensuring the broadest understanding of the challenges of the Health industry, including the oversight of delivery of IBM services and products focussed on improved patient wellness, information sharing across all care settings, improving access to health services, workforce productivity and consumer access to their own healthcare information in the private and public health sectors.
George Margelis Industry Development Manager Intel Australia Digital Health Group
George took on the role of Industry Development Manager for Intel’s new Digital Health Group in November 2005. For him it was an opportunity to take an active role in changing the way healthcare was delivered in Australia. Prior to moving to Intel Australia he has been very active in the healthcare informatics arena as the CIO of a private hospital group in Sydney, manager of an innovative software development group developing solutions for healthcare providers and consumers, and board member at the state and national level of the Health Informatics Society of Australia. He is a registered medical practitioner having graduated from the University of Sydney. He is also a registered optometrist and holds a graduate degree in E-Business from the University of Southern Queensland. He ran a successful software company during the heady days of the late 80’s and early 90’s and has been an active computer enthusiast from the late 70’s when he acquired his first PC, a Sinclair Z80.
Stewart Maxwell CEO, Cerrus International, United Kingdom
Stewart Maxwell graduated with a Business degree from Greenwich University, London and
has worked within the IT industry for 25 years. In the 1980’s, he specialised in the areas of
software development working for several blue chip companies such as Ashton-Tate (UK),
Digital Equipment Co Ltd, HM Government & Occidental Petroleum. In 2003, Cerrus completed the development of the integrated SATURN system at which
point Stewart was nominated for and became a finalist in the 2003 UK Care Awards,
Innovator of the Year. As CEO, Stewart heads up the UK healthcare systems company
which provides solutions to the social and healthcare markets at corporate and national
levels.
The latest Saturn 3 system is a multi-language system that is capable of providing health and
social care solutions across the world. In 2006, Saturn won the Innovation Award at the
Taipei Mediphar Conference and in June 2007, Saturn was nominated as the top European
Social Care System and won the European Product Innovation Award for Social Care
Systems.
Stewart is now one of the leading specialists in health and social care systems and
frequently speaks at e-health conferences throughout Europe, Asia and the USA. He has
spent 18 years working in the social healthcare IT market and frequently writes articles in
health and social care journals on the uses and benefits of IT in the care market.
Allan Turner General Manager, Information Management, Silver Chain
Allan has worked in Information Technology for over 30 years and within Health IT for 19 years. Commencing as a Computer Engineer he has moved through various management positions covering systems development, infrastructure support, project management, and strategic planning. Allan is currently Silver Chain’s General Manager, Information Management, and in this role he is responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of business systems. He holds a Master of Business in Information Innovation from RMIT.
